AUTIN DANCE – PARADE

The Giant Wheel is a moving performance inspired by the beauty, power and impact of people from different walks of life coming together. It features a twelve foot tall Giant Wheel powered by six street artists, accompanied by music and a large community cast from Coventry’sPositive Youth Foundation, Fred Winter Centre, Ileap eWarwickshire Pride.

1:30-2pm – Swan Gardens

4-4:50pm – starts in the Swan Gardens, finishes on the Bancroft Terrace.
This performance is BSL interpreted.

WORKSHOPS

Hour long introductory fun and practical workshops exploring characters, themes and language in Shakespeare’s plays, inspired by our community group’s costume selections in The Play’s The Thing. Suitable for ages 8+

DROP IN

THE PLAY’S THE THING EXHIBITION

Come in and see what’s new in our free exhibition, The Play’s The Thing. We are opening the exhibition with a new selection of costumes, props and unique items from the RSC Collection at the Birthday celebrations.

This new selection of objects was chosen in collaboration with community groups from the Fred Winter Centre, Warwickshire Pride, Ileap and Positive Youth Foundation. The exhibition includes a new film Beyond the Borders, co-produced by John Bernard, the RSC and Positive Youth Foundation, with music by Credo Kampeta.

Shakespeare Birthplace Trust Activities

Celebrate William’s 460th birthday with special artist-led workshop on Henley Street honouring the wider impact of mothers

Join four multi-disciplinary female artists fromMothers Who Make Coventry for a series of free, hands-on workshops outside the front ofLocal de nascimento de Shakespeare, as we explore the continued impact of theWomen Who Made Shakespeare.

All the artists involved are from Warwickshire and are also mothers and child carers. They will be celebrating this special day by exploring and responding to the key women in young William’s life, including his mother, Mary Arden, through their own artistic practice.

The artists devising workshops are:

Workshops will take place throughout the day and are designed as drop in sessions, so is no requirement to pre-book.

This event is free to attend, including all the artists workshops and suitable for all ages.

Tudor Music at the Guild Chapel

Clopton Household Musicians, Coranto, will be playing Tudor and Folk Music at the Guild Chapel. Instruments of the period, Harp, Woodwind and Hurdy-gurdy. Music that would have been very familiar to William Shakespeare.
